The Uttar Pradesh government has raised the maximum age limit to appear in Public Service Commission competitive examination in the state from 35 to 40 years. The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting held through circulation last night. The decision was announced by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in the state assembly today while a similar information was read out by Leader of the House in the Legislative Council by Ahmed Hassan. With this decision, now the job aspirants upto the age of 40 years can appear for the state level examination held by the UP public service commission. Now the applicants for Provincial Civil Services(PCS), PCS(Judicial) along with other examinations in the state government held through the state Public Service Commission would get this benefit. The state government has also announced to give unemployment allowances to the youth of the age between 30 and 40 years. Already Bihar and Jharkhand have made 40 years upper age limit for the competitive examinations while in Rajasthan it is 37 years. Earlier, the Ram Prakash Gupta government in UP in 2000 had raised the upper age limit for the competitive examination in the state to 35 years from 32 years.
